“Meet My Baby Elephant”: A Proud Mother Elephant Brought Her Cub To The People Who Once Saved Her!
This elephant was rescued by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in 2006. She was only 5 months old when she was discovered.
SWT took care of her until she was old enough to live in the wild.
It’s been a long time, but the elephant remembers her human friends. Loydzhuk remembers the family who looked after her and from time to time returns to the territory of the sanctuary for a visit.
Recently, the elephant shocked everyone with her visit. The elephant was not alone – she brought her baby elephant with her. The cub was named Lily. She was very small.
Elephants have an incredible memory for smell. They can smell who it is, no matter how long they have met. Benjamin Kyalo, the man who mainly looked after Loydzhuk, was very close to her. And the elephant brought her cub to him.
“The baby elephant approached him. Benjamin was able to stroke the smooth skin of newborn Lily and let her know who he was through his scent,” Rob Brandford, chief executive of SWT, told The Dodo.
Here you can watch the video of the lovely visit of Loijuk and Lili:
Of course, Lili will live in the wild with her mother in the herd. But now she already knows that there is a safe place where she can return if necessary.
“We look forward to our next meeting with Lili. We are sure she will grow up to be a good and strong elephant,” representatives of the Wildlife Conservation Fund said.
