Thе story that happened a few years ago still touches us to the core.

The boys Maxim and Dima rarely saw their parents. The father left them and went to another woman. He very rarely remembers that he has children and that they need care.And the mother disappears for days and returning brings them a loaf of bread and that’s it.

Once a neighbor noticed that this mother had not been seen at home for a long time and called the police. The group came to the call. Sergei Sharaukhov was among the policemen.

Sergei recalls how his heart sank when he saw the children. One of the windows in the house was broken. Maxim hammered it with some rags so that it would not blow too much.

It was March and it was quite cold outside. Beds were dirty, no pillows, no blankets. Food was out of the question. Sergei could not believe his eyes.

The elder brother seemed to have replaced their mom. He took responsibility for his brother. He wrapped him in a mattress to somehow warm the hungry brother. Maxim already forgot that he was a child as well. Responsibility for the life of his brother drowned out any manifestations of childish instincts.

It was a terrible sight. Sergey did not think for a long time: “Well, boys, will you come with me?”. The boys were frightened at first and hid behind behind the broken bed.

But suddenly, Maxim exclaimed: “Dad, I didn’t recognize you right away!”. The man couldn’t hold back his tears.

The children were taken to the hospital. The youngest was diagnosed with malnutrition and an advanced form of cough.

Sergey called his wife and told her about the abandoned boys. Sergei and her wife already had children: a son and 2 daughters. But when Sergei offered his wife to adopt the boys, the wife, realizing that it was very important for her husband, agreed.

They bought the children all the necessary things and medicines for Dima. The boy had some health problems due to poor nutrition and neglect.

The couple began to prepare documents for adoption. The mother of the children nevertheless showed up and wrote a refusal from the children. Doctors say that the children clung to her legs, they somehow tore them away from her. The mother left with a stone face.

Now Maxim is 5 years old, and Dima is 4.

Maxim matured before his age. Now, recalling the past years, he very sensibly says: “When I grow up, I will be a good father for my family. I will never leave them.”
