A 40-year-old Retired Racehorse and a 58-year-old Man Share the Greatest Friendship
There are many difficulties for a person in life, which one cannot overcome alone. And in these difficult moments it can be our family members or friends. They give strength to move forward, not to break. The hero of this story considers his horse as his friend during difficult days. The two of them helped each other out and an interesting bond was created between them that will amaze you too.
In 2008, Donnie McAdams met an elderly horse, Waco Hanover, on a farm in the Green Mountains of Vermont. At the time, the horse was 31 years old, although the average lifespan of a horse is about 25 years. However, Wako still had years to live, although he was always sad. Donnie seems to have realized that Waco is lonely and needs someone. “One day when I had a long talk with him, I convinced him that we were good friends. We both had nowhere else to go.” says the man.
From that moment, Donnie and Waco are inseparable and good friends. The man kept the horse like his own son. He thinks that they are more than friends. Donnie even bought a house above a barn in Waco so they were also neighbors.
When Donnie had a heart attack, Waco was always by his side and helped him. “I would go down to the barn, approach him, he would just put his head on my shoulder and that was the biggest help for me.”
Unfortunately, Waco died at the age of 42. But Donnie will always remember his good friend. “My best friend left me, he was such a good companion for me…”
Do you believe that such a connection can exist between a person and an animal?
